Description
The cobitids are elongated, often worm-like loaches found across Eurasia and North Africa. In the aquarium the best known are the kuhli loaches of the genus Pangio: small, nocturnal burrowers that spend the day buried in sand or among roots and come out to feed when the lights go off. They need fine sand, hiding places and a group, and are notorious for slipping through any gap, filter intakes included.
