Descripción
Salviniaceae are floating ferns, with leaves covered in water-repellent hairs and trailing roots hanging towards the bottom. In the aquarium they serve three purposes at once: they diffuse light for species that prefer it soft, absorb nitrate quickly, and give surface shelter to fry and shy fish. Their only drawback is that they grow so fast the excess must be removed weekly.
