Descripción

The Characidae family is one of the largest in the animal kingdom, with over 1,700 described species. It groups the popular tetras along with other characins of various shapes and sizes. Most aquarium species come from the river basins of South America: the Amazon, Orinoco, and Río de la Plata.

Tetras are characterized as schooling fish that stand out visually when moving in groups, creating very attractive color and movement effects in the aquarium.
