Description
The Aponogetonaceae are bulbous aquatic plants from Africa, Madagascar, Asia and Australia, with a single genus, Aponogeton. Their long submerged leaves, often wavy or lace-like, grow from a tuber that stores reserves. Almost all have a seasonal cycle: after months of growth they go dormant and lose their leaves, and sprout again if that rest is respected.
