Descripción

The Blue Bolt belongs to the Taiwan Bee group and shows a gradient running from deep blue at the head to white at the tail. It is among the most delicate shrimp in the hobby for a specific reason: the Taiwan Bee trait is recessive and the lines are heavily inbred, which translates into less tolerance for mistakes and smaller clutches. It needs water even softer and more acidic than the Crystal Red, and an aquarium matured over several months; starting one in a freshly cycled tank is the most common cause of failure.

Hábitat

It has no wild habitat: it is a line developed in Taiwan from mutations of Caridina cantonensis. It reproduces soft, acidic stream conditions taken to the extreme, with a strong active substrate, remineralised RO at low conductivity and a stable temperature in the lower range.
